Cod Steaks, an award-winning Bristol-based creative design and build team, is celebrating the opening of the new Lilidorei fantasy-village themed play park at Alnwick Garden in Northumberland.

The company created the Clans Village for the new attraction. Nine Christmas-worshipping clans live in Lilidorei, and their village is filled with giant toadstools, mushrooms, and magic. Cod Steaks has designed and built an extraordinary range of cabins for the village.
A child-centred kingdom
Cod Steaks has been working with Jane Percy, the Duchess of Northumberland, on the project for over two years. Each of the cabins has a unique aesthetic and character, as envisioned by the duchess.
The cabin interiors have been thoughtfully built so that young guests may peek through the windows and imagine what kind of creature, good or evil, could be living inside.
Sue Lipscombe, creative director of Cod Steaks says: “Creating the clan cabins of Lilidorei with their eccentricities has been a wonderful journey. Everyone in our team is proud to have played a part in crafting this magical and mysterious child-centred kingdom. We planned a place of exploration where a child’s imagination will run free. That’s what makes Lilidorei the only one of its kind.”

Lilidorei recently opened to the public, and claims to be the world’s largest play park. The £15 million attraction features immersive sound, with a 26m tall tower, and zip wires, slides and climbing walls which connect each area.
The attraction is hosting ‘free Fridays’ during term time for children in Northumberland and the surrounding areas, as part of the Alnwick Garden charity.
Cod Steaks has also worked with Reliance Brands Limited (RBL) on a play and retail concept called Hamleys Play. The firm was commissioned to develop an 80% play and 20% retail concept with a focus on accessibility. The first such venue opened at Jio World Drive in Mumbai, India.
