Cutting-edge virtual reality attraction opens in Leeds on 18 December

The Park Playground, a unique VR franchise, has announced that it will open its first UK venue next week. The state-of-the-art virtual reality attraction in Leeds will open to the public on 18 December. The firm, which also designs and builds all of its own VR experiences, already operates 11 owned and franchised venues globally and will follow this move into a new market with two more venues in the UK in the near future.

The brand-new immersive experience is near Leeds city centre, ideally located for both locals and visitors. Guests can enjoy fully mobile hyper-realistic free-roam adventures, thanks to the first-of-its-kind VR headset which doesn’t require players to carry any other hardware or heavy backpacks. Powered by HTC VIVE Focus 3 VR goggles, there is a range of different immersive worlds to choose from.

More UK venues to come

“We’re thrilled to be bringing The Park Playground’s immersive VR offerings to the UK, especially in a vibrant city like Leeds,” said Peter Vindevogel, CEO of The Park Playground. “And this is just the beginning, as we plan to continue our expansion in the UK in 2023 to introduce more individuals to your unique and unforgettable VR experiences.”

Players can choose from co-op or competitive titles, such as Mission Planet X, where they step into the shoes of a space marine on the hunt for the Energy Crystal, or The Hallow, where they are pitted against a horde of zombies. A brand new title, Don’t Scream, will put their bravery to the test in a haunted escape room. The experiences are suitable for parties, team-building events, date nights, family outings and more.

Building on the demand for location-based entertainment, The Park Playground is working to develop new technologies that boost the guest experience. For instance, it collaborated with its long-term partner HTC VIVE on the creation of wireless VR headsets for unrestricted game time. This was a first in the LBE world and has already been rolled out across all of its locations.

The firm also has new immersive content in the pipeline which will be available in its new UK venues soon, as well as its locations around the world.

The Park Playground has an exciting slate of upcoming and innovative immersive experiences in the pipeline that will soon be made available in its new homes in the UK, and in all venues globally.

Vindevogel recently spoke to blooloop about the winning formula behind the The Park Playground.
