Plans have been revealed for a replica of the Washington Monument and a zip line over the waters of the northern-most bay in the Upper Dells.

A reduced-scale replica of the Washington Monument received preliminary facade approval from the Design Review Committee on August 9, reports Wisconsin Dells Events. It will be erected complement the upside-down White House building at the Top Secret attraction on Wisconsin Dells Parkway.

The zip line and accompanying facilities were approved by the Plan Commission and Public Safety Committee on August 14. Signage and facade for the zip line and its accompanying facilities were approved by the committee on August 9.

Both projects require further approval before they can become a reality.

The Washington Monument remains in the proposal stages, but owner of the ‘Top Secret’ attraction, Nick Laskaris, says it will complement the make-believe mayhem already at the site and is not intended to be a “political statement”.
The zip line is proposed by  Jake Beard and Greg Slayton. The pair recently began operating Wisconsin River Kayak Rentals at the same Lower Dells site. If approved and constructed, the zip line will stretch from a high point on the river’s on western bank to a landing area on the bluff running parallel to Highway 13 next to the kayak rental company’s new ticket building.
Several community members spoke against developments along the river’s edge, including the zip line.
