Russ Dagon

Russ Dagon, Universal’s senior vice president of resort development, led the creation of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Endless Summer Inn and Suites, among many others. Recently, he oversaw the opening of Universal Stella Nova Resort, Universal Terra Luna Resort, and Universal Helios Grand Hotel. These three new properties launched alongside Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida.

He has been in his current role since Jun 2017, and first began his career with Universal as a project director in 1997. He left in 2004 and returned in 2009 as VP, executive project director.

Speaking to blooloop in 2025 about the new Universal Grand Helios Hotel, he explained that the idea was for it to blend seamlessly into the park's surroundings. “The same team that designed this hotel designed Celestial Park, all the way from Chronos to Apollo on property here."

The theme is Greek mythology, and Mediterranean influences are evident in the design, architecture, and cuisine. “We were looking for a very sophisticated look and very casual at the same time”, adds Dagon.

Guests can enjoy unique views and access the park through a dedicated entrance.

Meanwhile, Universal's other new hotels around the Epic Universe area have an intergalactic theme: Terra Luna (Earth) and Stella Luna (space). Both are in the prime value resort category, offering comfortable and affordable accommodations. They include a pool, quick-service, a café, a shop, and amenities.
