Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga - "Hologram" Technology

“Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” is an effects and projection spectacular utilizing state-of-the-art projection mapping on Black Spire Outpost’s spires. The creative hologram technology creates a free-standing a storyteller on an outdoor stage.

It is presented on the Black Spires of Batuu behind where the Millennium Falcon is docked. The projection is featured across the wide rock formation and onto several neighboring structures as well.

BARD, the droid, is stationed atop an overlook, where it presents the hologram of Tohan Lege – the first of its kind. Additional lighting accents the storytelling and lights up the skies above Black Spire Outpost. Visually, it is an ever-morphing progression of flowing shadows, motion, and artistic images set against shifting natural and elemental structures.

The presentation begins with a hologram recording of Tohan gathered around the Fire of Memory as he recants this tale. This technology is based on the traditional Pepper's Ghost in an entirely new way where a free-standing hologram is presented on an outdoor stage creating a familiar feeling to Star Wars fans.

The Tohan Lege hologram effect utilizes a scalloped and curved plexiglass panel that articulates within a themed sled. A projector placed behind the sled add the visual of Tohan. The panel is raised and lowered during scenic changes hide the movement and provide the "wow" at the beginning of the show.

The area lighting and angle of the panel are designed to hide the edges of the panel and eliminate reflections of the projected image on the building behind Tohan. The hologram is combined with a haze/fan screen which provides the projection cone from BARD, the droid for the in-story playback.
