Shanghai Disney Resort, which opened to the public on 16 June 2016, is celebrating its 10th anniversary

As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, Shanghai Disney Resort has announced the name of its upcoming third hotel.

The resort, which opened on 16 June 2016, revealed the name of its third themed hotel at an event today (15 June).


"When we opened these gates, we believed we could create something the world had never seen – a place where Disney storytelling met Chinese culture in a way that was genuinely new," said Josh D'Amaro, CEO of Disney.

"More than one hundred million guest visits later, Shanghai Disney Resort stands as one of this company's proudest achievements. As we celebrate the park's first decade and look to its next, what excites me most is that we're just getting started."

Shanghai Disney Resort's third themed hotel will be called the Shanghai Disney Enchanted Star Hotel and is due to open this winter.

Construction is progressing rapidly and the hotel’s complete façade will soon be unveiled, Shanghai Disney Resort said in a statement.

Inspired by Shanghai’s cultural heritage, the hotel’s design is influenced by Art Nouveau architecture, with the Wishing Star serving as a guiding light and recurring theme throughout the property.

Upon completion, the 400-room deluxe accommodation will provide views of Shanghai Disneyland and the Wishing Star Park.

As part of the resort's expansion, Shanghai Disney Resort is also introducing a fourth themed hotel and building a new residential community for cast members.

Guan Taoping, chair of Shanghai Shendi Group, which co-manages the resort, said: "As we enter the next decade, the Shendi Group will continue to deepen and expand our partnership with the Walt Disney Company."
