Visitors to “reconnect with themselves and the world around them”

The UK’s Eden Project is to host a special wellness weekend in January to support both mental health and planetary wellbeing.

The event, called Reclaim, is taking place on January 27 and 28 and will include activities such as reflective workshops, tours and talks.

On 27 January, chef, YouTuber and author Gaz Oakley will speak about moving to a more plant-based diet and will discuss his move from London to the Welsh countryside.

Also speaking on 27 January is Serge Attukwei Clottey, a Ghanaian artist working in installation, performance and sculpture who often uses found objects in his work.

On 28 January, Football For Future founder Elliot Arthur-Worsop will speak about how football is an unlikely tool to tackle the climate crisis.

Guests on 28 January will also hear from Dry Disco Sober Festival co-founder Steph Elswood and Sober Girl Society founder Millie Gooch on the relationship between sobriety, body image and mental health.

“The aim of Reclaim is to encourage our visitors to nurture both their personal mental health and the wellbeing of our planet,” said Tamsyn Lewis, Eden’s live events producer.

“We are proud to be able to build on the success of the first Reclaim and bring the event back for a second year.

“We know that January can be a particularly difficult time for many, and therefore we hope the weekend offers a chance for those attending to take some time to reconnect with themselves and the world around them.”

Highlights in the Reclaim weekend include vegetable gardening workshops for beginners, creative workshops where guests can make clay sculptures inspired by nature, and tours of Eden’s ‘Acts of Gathering’ exhibition.

Also on offer will be a vintage kilo sale where shoppers pay based on the weight of their chosen products.
