Expo 2025, themed Designing Future Society for Our Lives, is taking place in Osaka until 13 October and is expected to welcome over 28 million visitors. The UK Pavilion presents an immersive, interactive exhibition which follows the story of a Japanese father and daughter in the UK. Visitors also have the chance to meet the UK Expo mascot, PIX.

To optimise the audio experience for all visitors to the exhibit, Ampetronic is providing Listen Technologies’ audio over Wi-Fi-based assistive listening solution, ListenWIFI.

Guests can download the free ListenWIFI app on their smartphone to access audio and audio descriptions in either Japanese or English. They can then listen with earbuds or headphones, and stream directly to Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids and cochlear implants. As ListenWIFI filters out ambient noise, users can hear clear audio directly in their ears.

Hearing loop technology is available at the UK Pavilion’s shop, reception and information desks to support the listening needs of guests who wear hearing aids with telecoils. In addition, Auri, the first Auracast broadcast audio-based assistive listening system, will feature in meeting rooms and conference spaces.

Built on the new standard for Bluetooth Low Energy, Auri transmitters broadcast live and recorded venue audio to an unlimited number of Auracast-compatible devices within range. Guests with hearing aids, earbuds, and smartphones equipped with Auracast technology can select an audio broadcast and listen using their device.

Each of these technologies deployed in the UK Pavilion assists end-users in overcoming the challenges of hearing loss, distance, background noise, and language, so that they can hear clearly and understand in any location.

Ed Beck, international business development manager, Ampetronic, says: “Ampetronic is honoured to be part of Expo 2025, an event that celebrates innovation, inclusion, and international collaboration.

“Ampetronic is committed to increasing audio accessibility for all guests and looks forward to demonstrating the power of assistive listening solutions to overcome communication barriers and enhance visitor experiences. We hope everyone will enjoy the events and exhibits at the UK Pavilion and be inspired by their experience to request and utilize assistive listening systems whenever they visit a public venue.

“As we ‘Design Future Society for Our Lives,’ accessibility and inclusion must be central to our efforts. Technologies and solutions are available now to improve the lives of people with hearing loss and increase access to audio for everyone in public spaces.”

Auri

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that hearing loss affects one in five people globally. According to the RNID, one in three adults in the UK is deaf or has hearing loss or tinnitus. Not being able to hear and understand can be isolating and detrimental to overall health.

Carolyn Davidson, The UK’s Commissioner General for Expo 2025, says: “The UK Pavilion is a bold showcase of British innovation, creativity, and sustainability on the world stage.

“We are delighted that Ampetronic is supporting our Come Build The Future Visitor Exhibition with their next-generation Bluetooth broadcasting technology, ensuring the UK Pavilion is fully accessible for visually and hearing-impaired visitors.”

Listen Technologies and Ampetronic recently announced that Auri, the first complete Auracast broadcast audio-based assistive listening solution, is now shipping.
