Futuroscope’s next-generation water park is supported by Modulo Pi’s media server solutions

Modulo Pi, a provider of media server solutions with a user-friendly design, is celebrating the success of Futuroscope, France, which has been honoured with the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Water Park for its Aquascope attraction.

This accolade is presented for excellence in the themed entertainment sector and reflects the attraction’s innovative combination of technology and immersive design.

The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) recognised the winners of the 31st Annual Thea Awards at a Gala during TEA INSPIRE in March 2025.

Demonstrating the 3D auto-calibration module

Aquascope launched in July 2024 and brings together advanced multimedia, immersive storytelling, and interactive technology within an aquatic environment. Modulo Pi’s media server solutions support this innovative approach by ensuring that the immersive setup is precise and robust.

In the main Kiné-eau area, a water pool is surrounded by a 165 square metre, 270 degree panoramic screen driven by Modulo Kinetic, which provides 44 million pixels of projection through five Barco 4K22 projectors. In the La Crique area, an ethereal 300 square metre video mapping installation is brought to life using four Barco 4K projectors and Modulo Kinetic at a resolution of 33 million pixels.

In addition to real-time media playback and show control, the Modulo Kinetic server guarantees perfectly synchronised visuals, lighting and interactive water effects, to deliver a captivating multi-sensory experience.

Additionally, the project served as the preview for Modulo Pi’s 3D auto-calibration module, which aligns and maintains projector calibration in Kiné-eau’s challenging, humid environment. In combination with PoE cameras and a 3D model of the projection surfaces, the technology brings precise, automated warping and blending, significantly reducing setup time and making it easier to maintain the huge 270 degree screen.

The Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Water Park honour follows Futuroscope’s success in 2022, when the Modulo Pi media server-powered attraction Chasseurs de Tornades was recognised with the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Attraction.

“Modulo Pi is proud to support Futuroscope’s continued innovation and to contribute to next-generation immersive experiences through its advanced media server technology,” says the company.

Recently, Modulo Pi marked the second anniversary of the launch of Le Mime et L’Étoile at Puy du Fou in France. The multi-award-winning show honours the origins of cinema and features an audiovisual setup which integrates dynamic projection mapping, lighting, and spatialised sound with exceptional accuracy, powered by Modulo Pi’s Modulo Kinetic media server.
