Sindalah is one of a group of islands that will be developed in Neom.

Neom has announced the development of Sindalah, the first luxury island in Saudi Arabia’s $500 billion city of the future.

The project, unveiled by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is expected to open from early 2024. It will create 3,500 jobs for the tourism sector and hospitality and leisure services.

Covering an area of around 840,000 square metres, Sindalah is one of a group of islands that will be developed in Neom.

“This is another significant moment for Neom and a major step in the kingdom realizing its tourism ambitions under Vision 2030,” said Prince Mohammed.

“Sindalah will be Neom’s first luxury island and yacht club destination in the Red Sea, providing a scenic gateway to the Red Sea that will become the region’s most exciting and attractive tourism location.

“It will be a destination where travelers can experience the true beauty of Neom and Saudi Arabia, above and below the water, making Sindalah the future of luxury travel.”

Sindalah’s offerings include a marina and offshore buoys, as well as 413 hotel rooms and 333 serviced apartments. Highlights also include a golf course, beach club, yacht club and 38 F&B outlets.

Sindalah to open in early 2024

Neom recently unveiled its plans for The Line, a zero-carbon city with “vertically layered” buildings for work, living and leisure within two mirrored facades.

In addition, Saudi has been chosen to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games at Neom. The event is taking place within Trojena, a mountain tourism destination with a ski village and ski slope, wellness resorts and an interactive nature reserve.

Neom will be 33 times the size of New York City. Saudi Arabia is creating a series of attractions and giga-projects as part of Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy to reduce the kingdom’s reliance on oil.
