Visit Group, a specialist in creating digital solutions tailored to the attractions and tourism industries, has announced a strategic partnership with Brittany Ferries, one of Europe’s leading ferry operators, to speed up the company’s digital transformation and improve its customer experience.

This collaboration represents a significant advancement for both companies as they join forces to modernise travel and holiday booking experiences.

Maria Mathieu, head of digital products at Brittany Ferries, spearheads the company’s digital initiatives. Her teams manage various digital solutions, such as Brittany Ferries’ commercial websites, mobile app, pre-check-in application, and reservation systems.

“Visit Group’s proven experience with other ferry operators was a key factor in our decision,” says Mathieu. “We needed a partner with deep industry knowledge and a scalable solution that could align with our evolving technical landscape.”

A modern & flexible solution

Brittany Ferries encountered difficulties with its outdated legacy systems, which no longer aligned with the company’s strategic goals. To address this, the ferry operator pursued a comprehensive digital migration plan to find a modern and flexible solution capable of replacing essential legacy modules.

After thoroughly assessing in-house development compared to third-party options, Visit Group proved to be the most suitable choice.

“We concluded that Visit Group’s project delivery and operating model offered better value,” Mathieu says. “Beyond cost-effectiveness, their expertise, ability to deliver on time, and commitment to continuous technical updates were decisive.”

A key advantage of Visit Group’s platform is its compatibility with the FerryGateWay standard, which significantly influenced Brittany Ferries’ decision. Additionally, the platform’s modular design enables smooth integration within Brittany Ferries’ wider digital ecosystem.

Mathieu emphasises the benefits of real-time availability and pricing capabilities: “This functionality is critical in helping us meet our commercial objectives. Moreover, the flexibility of the platform enables us to tailor the digital user experience, which is essential to our success.”

Powering a seamless experience

Through this partnership, Brittany Ferries aims to retire outdated systems and accelerate the rollout of an enhanced holiday booking platform. This partnership aligns with the company’s broader goal of offering a seamless, fully integrated digital holiday experience and enhancing its reputation as a trusted expert in the destinations it serves.

“Our goal is to increase holiday passenger volumes by 15% over the next five years,” says Mathieu. “With Visit Group, we’re confident we have the right partner to help us achieve that.”

The partnership highlights Visit Group’s dedication to driving digital innovation in the travel and experience sector.

Earlier this year, Visit Group announced the appointment of Werner Dullmaier as business development director.
