Visit Group, a specialist in creating digital solutions tailored to the attractions and tourism industries, welcomed Richard Wiegmann as its new CEO in February 2025. With decades of leadership experience in travel and hospitality technology, Wiegmann is set to guide the company into its next stage of growth and innovation.

James Dixon, who previously successfully led Visit Group as CEO, now assumes the position of chief operating officer (COO).

This choice emphasises his dedication to remaining actively involved in operations, ensuring that Visit Group scales efficiently. Dixon’s close collaboration with teams and enthusiasm for operational excellence will enhance the company’s capacity to provide exceptional value to its customers and partners.

Leading innovation at the company

Wiegmann comes to Visit Group with a rich background that includes significant executive roles in travel technology, such as leadership positions at Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport, Expedia, and Dertour. His expertise encompasses CRS, GDS, OTA, and tour operator products.

He has played a crucial role in shaping strategy, fostering product innovation, and spearheading M&A activities, overseeing the acquisition and integration of 19 companies in recent years.

“I am excited to join Visit Group at such an exciting time in its journey. With a strong team and innovative solutions, we have a great opportunity to expand globally and drive even more value for our customers. I look forward to leading the next phase of innovation and growth,” says Wiegmann.

“Richard’s deep industry knowledge, strategic mindset, and hands-on approach make him the perfect fit to lead Visit Group into the future,” says Magnus Emilson, chairman and founder of Visit Group.

“His experience in executing large-scale integrations, combined with his ability to inspire teams and drive business transformation, will be invaluable as we strengthen our position in the international market.”

Continuing Visit Group’s mission

Wiegmann’s approach to leadership emphasises collaboration, customer-focused innovation, and strategic implementation.

As he steps into the CEO role, he will immerse himself in Visit Group’s operations, dedicating his initial months to working closely with teams in Gothenburg and travelling to global offices for firsthand exposure to the company’s ecosystem.

“Over the course of the upcoming weeks, I am looking forward to spending my time with our customers and teams across the globe,” Wiegmann adds.

Wiegmann’s leadership embodies a passion for travel, technology, and adventure, reflecting the dynamic culture of Visit Group.

With Visit Group’s growth on the rise, Wiegmann’s appointment demonstrates a firm dedication to broadening its global presence, improving product offerings, and providing increased value to customers.

“We often forget that traveling the world is a true privilege. Enabling our customers to take care of these journeys and experiences is our daily mission,” says Wiegmann.

Visit Group empowers hotels, attractions, and resorts to streamline operations, boost revenue, and connect destinations. With over 20 years of expertise, its integrated ecosystem from ticketing to distribution simplifies visit management.
