Sabrina de Carvalho is the senior divisional director at Gardaland Resort, which is operated by Merlin Entertainments. She took on the role of managing the biggest amusement park in May 2022. De Carvalho was the divisional director at Germany’s Heide Park Resort from 2013 to 2022 and marketing director at the same attraction from 2003 to 2011, with a two-year stint in between as head of Merlin’s Midway division for Germany and Austria.
During her time at Heide Park, she oversaw a number of key projects, such as the reopening of the attraction’s Colossos wooden coaster and the opening of IP-based attractions such as How to Train Your Dragon – The Island, Ghostbusters 5D and Peppa Pig Land.
She joined Gardaland just as it launched its latest attraction, Jumanji – The Adventure, a brand new dark ride based on the successful Sony Pictures Jumanji franchise and designed by Merlin Magic Making. The family-friendly attraction is the world’s first ride inspired by the adventure films. It takes riders through 12 different scenes on multi-motion ride vehicles for an off-road experience, with a series of hazards and obstacles being encountered along the way.
Merlin Entertainments‘ Gardaland Resort is home to Gardaland Park, Legoland Water Park and the SEA LIFE Aquarium, as well as the Gardaland Hotel, Gardaland Adventure Hotel and Gardaland Magic Hotel.
Gardaland Park is the longest-running amusement park in Italy, presenting a range of themed areas that bring to life the worlds of history, geography, space and fantasy. This includes Peppa Pig Land, Prezzemolo Land and Fantasy Kingdom. Guests can enjoy rides like Oblivion, Blue Tornado and Raptor. The park was created by entrepreneur Livio Furini who was inspired by a visit to Disneyland in California, and it dates back to 1975. The resort became part of the Merlin Entertainments family in 2006.
