Wouter Dekkers CEO Momentum Leisure

Wouter Dekkers joined Momentum Leisure as CEO in April 2024. Dekkers started his career in the theme park industry as director of finance at Six Flags Holland (now Walibi) in 2000 after previous positions at KPMG and Ernst & Young. He then took up a wider role at Star Parks, Six Flags’ successor in Europe, before moving into park management at Movie Park Germany. He later served as general manager at Slagharen in the Netherlands and Tropical Islands outside Berlin before his most recent role as corporate development director of parent company Parques Reunidos.

In 2024, Momentum Leisure opened Majaland Gdańsk – its third theme park in Poland. This joined Majaland Kownaty and Majaland Warsaw in the central European country, which were launched in 2018 and 2022 respectively. New parks are coming to Poland, as well as Romania.

Founded in 2008, Momentum Leisure aims to be a major player in the leisure industry in central and eastern Europe. To date, the company has invested around €150 million in entertainment projects. By 2030, Momentum Leisure aims to have ten operational parks in the region.

At Momentum Leisure, Wouter Dekkers is developing the company’s portfolio of attractions and working to grow annual visitor numbers to more than 5 million.

“The world has changed so rapidly in the last two to three years,” Dekkers told blooloop. “In times of crisis and uncertainty, one thing people still cherish is family entertainment. I really want to focus on these four parks in Poland and the opportunity in Romania.”

“I think it will be a huge success because there are no parks in Romania on the scale we are familiar with in Western Europe,” he added.
