Zsolt Hormay is creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, the creative powerhouse that designs and builds all the Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions and cruise ships. WDI was set up as Walt Disney’s personal innovation think-tank and now employs thousands of Imagineers around the world. Zsolt is responsible for rock work, sculpting and painting at Walt Disney Imagineering.
“What can be said about Zsolt that has not already been said? He is literally a master of his craft, recognized by the TEA as a Master in 2019. He has pushed the art of rockwork and themed finishes to be one of the premier industry trades, as technically advanced as it is visually stunning,” said one person who nominated Hormay.
Hormay has led Disney park projects such as Pandora – The World of Avatar, Cars Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and the original Tokyo DisneySea. He has recently returned to the latter to direct the rockwork and themed finishes for the new Fantasy Springs expansion. The park’s eighth themed port contains three areas inspired by Frozen, Tangled and Peter Pan. It also includes a hotel, restaurants, and a shop across a total area of around 140,000 square metres.
