CAVU Designwerks introduces Quest: themed entertainment’s first walkthrough ride

Cavu Designwerks Quest Walkthrough Ride

CAVU Designwerks, the media-based attractions specialist, presents Quest, the themed entertainment industry’s first walkthrough ride.

CAVU Designwerks is proud to announce a new interactive experience which marks a new genre of attractions. Quest is the first walkthrough ride in the themed entertainment industry and will help bring story-based attractions to a wider audience.

This new experience was designed in response to the challenges posed by the global pandemic, such as a need for smaller, more flexible attractions that are less expensive and have a quick turnaround. Quest is able to spread guests out throughout the experience, therefore helping operators to maintain good social distancing practices and keep visitors safe.

Introducing Quest

While the majority of attractions in the industry are vehicle-based, Quest aims to decouple immersive attractions from ride vehicles, in order to allow for a new type of storytelling experience, where guests have more agency and can get up close to the environment.

“With this attraction, we wanted to reimagine what it means to interact with an experience, by combining the agency of a walkthrough, the mechanical and theatrical elements of a dark ride, and new modes of interactivity powered by advances in tracking and sensing technology,” says Mark Stepanian, Chief Experience Officer for CAVU.

While traditional ride-based attractions tend to rely on elements such as fear from big drops, surprise on dark rides, and the usual ‘shooting’ experiences, Quest targets a new emotional response as guests explore new environments, encounter new mechanics, work together to solve problems, and become the hero of their own story.

Thanks to this reimagined story-telling platform, guests will enjoy new storytelling experiences that are surprising, organic, and personal.

CAVU has designed more than 50 different modules, including new interactives, motion bases, and more. Quest allows designers to choose from any combination of these modules to achieve the desired theme, footprint, throughput requirements, and budget. This modular approach means that Quest is ideal for a range of locations, from smaller, temporary museum exhibits to permanent brand experiences and theme park attractions.

Operators can also use this new innovation to refresh existing attractions by adding on a new preshow or postshow or introducing new experiences in the queue line. The modules include a range of mechanical and interactive elements that can be tailored to suit any theme or story.

CAVU Designwerks also recently launched Bluesky Services, which will allow its engineering team to brainstorm technically on new or existing products and projects.
