Sony Pictures Entertainment and Amazon Falls are creating the world’s first Columbia Pictures theme and water park in Thailand.

Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse is located on 14 acres in the seaside town of Bangsaray, which is close to Pattaya and Bangkok. It will start opening from October 2021.

“Aquaverse is the next step in Sony Pictures’ larger global strategy to grow and expand location-based entertainment by utilizing its strong global film and TV brands,” said Jeffrey Godsick, head of LBE at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“We are creating opportunities for all audiences around the world to immerse themselves deeper into our stories through water parks, touring exhibitions, and theme park attractions.”

The park will house state-of-the-art rides and themed attractions from movies including Men in Black, Bad Boys, Hotel Transylvania, Jumanji and Ghostbusters.

Jumanji and Ghosbusters rides and attractions

Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse will feature eight themed zones, with water and land attractions, live shows, immersive entertainment, interactive props, unique sets, special merchandise and themed F&B.

Aquaverse’s most thrilling rides will be Men in Black-themed, including a water coaster that sends riders down an MIB wormhole. Ghostbusters offerings include a water coaster, as well as the world’s first fully-enclosed water dome in a raft ride.

The ‘Bad Boys Raceway’ will be an outdoor go-kart experience, while ‘Jumanji Jungle Adventure’ will house jungle-themed waterslides and a splash pool.

The family-friendly zone, inspired by Hotel Transylvania, will feature Aquaverse’s largest water park attraction, with more than 100 water features.

Men in Black offerings at theme and water park

Surf’s Up will inspire ‘Surfer’s Paradise’, which boasts a water park attraction with dual Flowrider, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs will be the theme of the Swallow Falls River Adventure.

Finally, the ‘Vivo Wave Pool’ is inspired by the upcoming animated musical Vivo, produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation.

Liakat Dhanji, CEO and chairman of Amazon Falls, owners and operators of Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse, said the park will be a “fully immersive experience that will bring curiosity and wonder to a global audience”.

“Alongside our unique rides and attractions, we look forward to forging new partnerships with top accommodation, technology, retail and F&B partners as we curate an unmatched lifestyle experience that will resonate with all our visitors,” said Dhanhi.
