Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is opening to guests in June 2024

Disney Cruise Line has shared new information and images for its upcoming tropical destination on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is opening to Disney Cruise Line guests in June of this year.

New images show construction is progressing on the destination’s colourful Mabrika Cove Cabanas, as well as the oversized seashell-style architecture designed by Walt Disney Imagineering.

“From these beautiful decks under the shade of a shell-inspired pavilion, you’ll enjoy some tasty lunch from True-True Too BBQ while taking in the beautiful views of the ocean and sand dunes,” Disney Cruise Line said in a blog post.

Additionally, work is progressing on Lookout Cay’s tram stops, which will soon feature colourful elements inspired by Bahamian art and culture. “Expect hair braiding, merchandise and lots of fun,” Disney added.

The new Disney Cruise Line retreat is inspired by Junkanoo, a longstanding Bahamian tradition celebrating the country’s unique culture.

Much like Disney’s Castaway Cay, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will offer pristine beaches and Disney-themed activities and areas for every age group.

Highlights include a large family beach, an adults-only beach with a dining area, and another peaceful beach with family cabanas.

Lighthouse Point also features a family-friendly water play area with slides, water drums and fountains, and a themed kids’ club with a splash pad based on The Little Mermaid.

The sustainable destination has a solar array to meet 90 percent of its electricity needs. Its pier was designed to avoid the need for dredging, and elevated walkways will limit the impact of visitors on the landscape.

“At Imagineering, we do view every project as an opportunity for storytelling,” Caitlin Krasovic, senior architect at Walt Disney Imagineering, told blooloop.

“Lighthouse Point will be a shining example of blending those powerful stories of the Bahamian culture and art together with our shared goals for environmental responsibility.”
