Disney parks, experiences and products has named a new technology executive, with Gail Evans set to serve as the theme park division‘s executive vice president, chief digital and technology officer.
“I’m very pleased to welcome Gail Evans as the new executive vice president, chief digital and technology officer, for Disney parks, experiences and products,” said Josh D’Amaro, the segment’s chairman.
“Gail is joining an immensely talented team, and is bringing invaluable experiences and perspectives with her as we continue to build our business and our future focused on improving the guest and consumer experience.”
Evans currently works for Mercer, an asset management firm. She has been the company’s global chief digital officer since June 2018. Before that, Evans was Mercer’s global chief information officer.

She has also worked for Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Bank of America and Eastman Kodak.
Evans’ new position follows Disney’s appointment of Mike White, who will lead the company’s metaverse plans. White will serve as senior vice president of next-generation storytelling and consumer experiences.
In a memo to staff (via Variety), Disney CEO Bob Chapek said: “For nearly 100 years, our company has defined and redefined entertainment by leveraging technology to bring stories to life in deeper, more impactful ways.”
“Today, we have an opportunity to connect those universes and create an entirely new paradigm for how audiences experience and engage with our stories,” he added.
“This is the so-called metaverse – which I believe is the next great storytelling frontier and the perfect place to pursue our strategic pillars of storytelling excellence, innovation, and audience focus.”
