Disneyland in California has revealed more about its expansion plans, including details on its new Coco ride and Avatar experience.
Disney California Adventure’s new Coco ride was announced last year at Disney’s D23 fan event. Now, Disneyland has revealed that construction on the ride will begin this autumn.
The attraction will be built near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, in areas that are largely backstage at the moment, Disney said in a blog post.
As for the Avatar experience, also confirmed at D23 last year, Disneyland has revealed that it is transforming an area of the current Hollywood Backlot into the new destination at Disney California Adventure.
The project is still in the early stages of development, with more details to be shared at a later date.
However, to make way for the new experience, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in early 2026.

In addition, plans are underway for a new parking structure and transportation hub to be built on the east side of Disneyland Resort, on a portion of what currently serves as the Manchester cast member parking lot.
The new structure will provide around 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and rideshare areas, security screening, and dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way.
Additionally, the hub will include a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard, leading to a new esplanade arrival experience.
These new additions will improve parking and traffic flow throughout the resort area, and will create some of the necessary infrastructure for Disneyland’s future growth.
Construction on the parking structure and transportation hub is due to begin in autumn 2026.
Earlier this year, Disney California Adventure started building its Avengers Campus expansion, which includes two new attractions and will double the size of the Marvel land.
