Drayton Manor to open “one of the best coasters in the UK” next year

Shockwave at Drayton Manor

Drayton Manor has already broken ground on the “new family thrill coaster“.

Drayton Manor Resort‘s managing director Victoria Lynn has revealed plans to open “one of the best coasters in the UK” in 2024.

“It is a very exciting place to be right now,” Lynn told BirminghamLive.

“We have got a top secret project that will be communicated in a few weeks’ time. There is a lot to look forward to but it is really about building on our success, making Drayton Manor the place to visit, and giving fun for everyone.”

“One of the key things we want to say is that in 2024 there will be a new family thrill coaster coming,” she added.

“That is an important message because we will have new some stuff in 2023 but it won’t be on that scale. This is going to be one of the best coasters in the UK in my opinion.

“We have already broken ground. Part of that was removing Apocalypse to pave the way.” Lynn said visitors “are not going to be disappointed once they see what is going in its place”.

As above, Drayton Manor’s Apocalypse ride was retired in October. After closing the Pandemonium ride in 2021 as part of its redevelopment, the park unveiled a new look

Drayton Manor redevelopment

Last year, Drayton Manor launched the new Vikings land. This features the ‘Thor’ and ‘Loki’ thrill rides, the new ‘Walhalla’ restaurant, and Viking-themed hotel rooms.

“Our owners, the Looping Group, have got 17 parks across Europe and I am very experienced in the theme park world so it is bringing that new energy and vibe to Drayton Manor,” added Lynn.

“It is really important having an owner that backs you and invests in something because they can see how good the park is. A lot of what we do is evaluate what the customers tell us. We are giving the customers exactly what they want.”
