New free fall ride to feature similar theming to Baron 1898

Efteling in the Netherlands has announced a new family attraction to open in summer 2026, with construction starting later this year.

The park’s new free fall ride will be located next to the Baron 1898 attraction, a Bolliger & Mabillard dive coaster, and will have the same theming as it.

Construction on the currently unnamed ride will start after this summer, Efteling said in a press release.

Koen Sanders, the park‘s director of product, market and image, said: “This new family attraction seamlessly complements the area around Baron 1898.

“It is deliberately smaller in scale and as a result, adds to the capacity and attraction offer for a wider audience.

“Matching our area vision, the atmosphere and theme is similar to Baron 1898 to fully immerse our guests in the story of the baron and the wailing women.”

Efteling’s new attraction is designed by Karel Willemen. During the ride experience, guests will serve as the baron’s chimney sweeps.

In more news, the new Efteling Grand Hotel is set to open on 1 August. Meanwhile, the Efteling Wonder Hotel is temporarily closed for major renovation works.

Also coming to the park this year is Efteling’s 31st fairytale, ‘The Princess and the Pea’. The new attraction will be located in front of the Efteling Grand Hotel.

The last fairytale to be introduced at Efteling was in 2019. This is based on The Six Swans by the Brothers Grimm and is the park’s first fairytale to include a ride experience.

Efteling is one of Europe’s biggest theme parks, offering a unique fairytale atmosphere, natural surroundings and a range of immersive attractions.
