Escape Penang has opened two new attractions to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Malaysia’s first ski slope and the ‘Dead Sea Pool’ experience.
Owned and operated by Sim Leisure Group, Escape Penang features attractions such as climbing zones, obstacle courses, zip lines and waterslides in a natural setting.
“Here we are, 10 years later after the Escape brand was conceptualised right here in Escape Penang,” said Sim Choo Kheng, founder and chief executive of Sim Leisure Group.
“Our success today, fuelled by creativity and passion, has changed the face of conventional theme parks, while playing a vital role in promoting tourism in Penang and Malaysia.”
The park’s new ski slope is created from a material that allows visitors to ski without snow. The Dead Sea Pool, like the Dead Sea salt lake in Jordan, lets guests float.
“But while not resting on our laurels, we continue to evolve with the times, creating new experiences for our visitors. So, even as we celebrate 10 years of Escape Penang with these new attractions, we continue to look to the future,” added Sim.
“Let me just say that Escape is here to stay, and we’ll continue to evolve with the times, giving unique play experiences for generations to come, not only here in Penang.”
Earlier this year, Escape Penang launched the world’s longest zip coaster, with the 1,135-metre ride breaking a Guinness World Record.
Sim Leisure Group’s expansion
The zip coaster joins the world’s longest waterslide at Escape Penang, making it the only attraction in Malaysia to hold two Guinness World Records.
Sim Leisure Group also runs Escape Challenge in Petaling Jaya. The company is taking the Escape brand to Sri Lanka and creating the largest Escape park in Malaysia, Escape Cameron Highlands.
Additionally, Sim Leisure Group recently acquired KidZania Kuala Lumpur and plans to acquire KidZania Singapore.
