The new zip coaster joins the world’s longest waterslide at Escape Penang.

Escape Penang, owned and operated by Sim Leisure Group, has launched the world’s longest zip coaster, with the 1,135-metre ride breaking a Guinness World Record.

The new zip coaster joins the world’s longest waterslide at Escape Penang, making it the only attraction in Malaysia to hold two Guinness World Records.

The ride offers the free-flying sensation of a zip line on a steel track attached to the tree line, with visitors soaring through the tree tops and foliage.

“We at the Sim Leisure Group strongly believe that we have something truly special in the Escape brand that distinctly differentiates itself from other themed attractions,” said Sim Choo Kheng, founder and chief executive of Sim Leisure Group.

He added: “Using a ‘low tech, high fun’ approach, our goal is to create an all-new experience for visitors where success and fun is measured in ‘smiles per hour’, as we like to say here.”

Escape Penang is home to climbing zones, obstacle courses, ziplines and waterslides in a natural setting. Sim Leisure Group also runs Escape Challenge in Petaling Jaya, which opened in 2020.

Ahmad Fuzi bin Abdul Razak, Penang’s head of state, said Sim Leisure Group “will continue to raise the bar, not only in Escape Penang, but in all our establishments under the Escape brand”.

“It is my sincere hope that Penang-based companies and organisations step forward and follow in the example of Sim Leisure Group, to lead the state and the country in developing world-class attractions not only for the advancement of Penang, but Malaysia as a whole,” he added.

“With sustainability at our core, one big priority for us was not to affect the natural greenery and nature within and around Escape Penang, as part of our commitment to preserve this beautiful natural environment, allowing our visitors to reconnect with nature.”

The company is taking the Escape brand to Sri Lanka and developing the largest Escape theme park in Malaysia, called Escape Cameron Highlands.

Sim Leisure Group recently acquired KidZania Kuala Lumpur and plans to acquire KidZania Singapore.
