Europa-Park has teamed up with world-famous Paris nightspot, the Moulin Rouge, to transform dark rollercoaster Eurosat into the CanCan Coaster.

The landmark ride in the park’s French-themed area is being remodelled and revamped, evoking the glamour of the Belle Epoque.

Slated to open this summer, the rails and cables of the Eurosat – CanCan Coaster are being completely renewed, with the technology and theming also extensively upgraded.

Created by Mack Rides, the Eurosat – CanCan Coaster will benefit from the latest rail innovations from engineering leader Waldkirch company, to provide a significantly improved riding experience. As a tribute to Franz Mack, the track layout will be very similar to the original in the futuristic silver ball, making it around 900 metres long.

MackMedia is currently creating a new virtual reality experience for the ride – Eurosat Coastiality. In order to create the innovative ride experience, a second station with shift track and separate trains will be integrated into the dark ride rollercoaster for the first time. This will provide two attractions in one ride, both using the same route.

New façade promises ‘true-to-life’ replica of historic Moulin Rouge

Aside from technology, the entire façade is being given a makeover, promising a ‘true-to-life replica’ of the historic Moulin Rouge including its iconic red windmill.

Completing the themed experience will be an Alsatian souvenir and curio shop – Madame FreudenreichCuriosités – which replaces the Universe of Energy attraction. Dinosaur fans will find plenty to keep them amused including prehistoric artefacts, Dino-Selfies with Ms. Freudenreich and a dinosaur breeding farm set in a lush garden.

Other innovations include the chance to dine on a floating bistro boat, the repositioning and rebuilding of the traditional Flammkuchen stand, and a French-themed water fountain show.

Home of the iconic CanCan dance, Moulin Rouge opened in Paris in 1889 and has been a magnet for visitors to Montmartre ever since. Like Europa-Park, it is a family affair, currently in the hands of the third generation of the Clerico family.

Europa-Park is Germany’s biggest theme park and Europe’s second most popular park after Disneyland Paris. It broke its own attendance record in 2017, welcoming over 5.6 million visitors.
