Frontgrid, an expert in adventure leisure and virtual reality attractions, has announced that ParadropVR City Flyer has been shortlisted for Best Leisure Concept of the Year at the 2019 MAPIC Awards.

Frontgrid is proud to announce that ParadropVR City Flyer is in the running for Best Leisure Concept in the 2019 MAPIC awards. MAPIC takes place from 13 – 15 November in Cannes, France, and is the leading event for the international retail property market. The annual awards recognise the best retailers and projects in the industry, and winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 14 November.

ParadropVR City Flyer is a unique immersive attraction that allows guests to have the experience of flying around a city skyline while playing a fun virtual reality game. This innovative product can be used by retail and leisure destinations to increase revenue and footfall.

Judged by experts

ParadropVR City Flyer debuted at King Power Mahanakhon in Bangkok in July, where it has already proved to be a popular choice with visitors. Here, it is branded as Mahanakhon SkyRides and gives guests the opportunity to fly around the iconic Bangkok skyline, at the heart of an exciting VR gaming adventure.

The jury panel at the MAPIC awards is made up of leading experts from the retail, leisure and attractions industries. When they met in Paris last week to deliberate, ParadropVR City Flyer was chosen for the shortlist of the Best Leisure Concept award, out of a large number of projects.

“We’re delighted that ParadropVR City Flyer has been selected as a finalist for Leisure Concept of the Year in the 2019 MAPIC Awards,” says Matt Wells, CEO of Frontgrid Ltd. “Our first installation at King Power Mahanakhon has been a resounding success, both in terms of guest satisfaction and initial results.”

“As a premium, interactive experience with great pulling power, ParadropVR City Flyer has huge potential to help leisure and retail destinations attract new visitors by offering a unique, innovative and highly shareable experience to guests. It’s great to see innovation in this sector being recognised – I hope the MAPIC judges and delegates vote for ParadropVR City Flyer when the final judging takes place!”

A unique experience

Marc Begassat, Managing Director at King Power Mahanakhon says: “We are truly delighted to be the first in the world to offer this unique experience at our iconic landmark destination. Mahanakhon SkyRides adds a new element of adventure and excitement that complements the range of premium leisure and retail activities at King Power Mahanakhon.”

Earlier this year, Frontgrid also announced that ParadropVR had made its Indian debut at Landmark’s new indoor amusement centre in Hyderabad, India.
