Dalian Wanda Group Co. Ltd. is to open its third Wanda City in June, reports China Daily.

The $5.8 billion Harbin Wanda City will be the largest leisure development in the country's Northeastern region.

Key features are set to include Russian-style theming and the world's largest indoor skiing and snow entertainment park. The snow park will cover 1.5 square kilometres.

Further locations in line for Wanda Cities include Chengdu, Wuxi, Guangzhou and Chongqing.

Wanda Group is China's largest commercial property company and the world's largest cinema chain operator.

The conglomerate is headed up by Wang Jianlin. In 2015, Bloomberg named him among the top 50 most influential people in the world.

Jianlin is said to be refocusing the group's business away from real estate and increasingly towards commerce, culture, internet and finance.

Harbin Wanda City further confirms the company's commitment to the booming leisure industry in China. The rise and rise of the Chinese middle-classes is fuelling a boom that shows no sign of abating.

Industry consultancy, Aecom, has predicted that as many as 59 new theme parks will open in China by 2020. These will join the 300 already in operation across the country.

Jianlin has already expressed his intention to open twenty Wanda Cities countrywide by 2020. The billionaire has made no secret of his ambition to knock Disney off its theme park pedestal.
