Imaginize, a full-service experience design studio, has revealed that it has been working on the newly-announced Big Easy Boulevard at Thorpe Park Resort in the UK. Set to open in spring 2024, this will replace the park’s existing Angry Birds Land.
Big Easy Boulevard will be themed around the vibrant and cultural city of New Orleans and will make its re-imagined debut including new designs for the Detonator drop tower, the Dodgems and the 4D Cinema.
Revealing the news on its social media channels, Thorpe Park teased:
“Every day is the Fourth of July, so brace yourself for the ultimate adrenaline rush on Detonator, our drop tower ride that sends you plummeting 100ft to an epic finale. Fuel the fun on the Dodgems, our classic bumper car ride that guarantees laughter for the whole family. Immerse yourself in our awe-inspiring 4D movie at our Cinema where you’ll be treated to a thrilling multi-sensory experience.
“Prepare to be transported into a captivating world of sights, sounds, and surprises with our new blockbuster.”
A vibrant refresh
Speaking about the project, Matt Hiam, design director at Imaginize, says: “It’s been a pleasure working alongside the Thorpe Park team in creating the concept art for the newly announced Big Easy Boulevard. The New Orleans theme will bring a bright and vibrant refresh to the area and we can’t wait for its opening next year, a very exciting year for the park!”
Steph Ricketts, entertainments project manager at Thorpe Park and James Abraham, brand manager at Thorpe Park, add: “We are absolutely thrilled here at Thorpe Park to unveil our new land ‘Big Easy Boulevard’, set to make its debut in 2024!
“The journey to bring this rich new land to life has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we owe a huge thanks to the phenomenal team at Imaginize. Their unparalleled expertise, talent and collaborative skills have turned our vision into a reality over the past few months, and we can’t wait for our guests to experience this.”
Easy Big Boulevard will seamlessly connect Amity Cove, Amity Speedway, and the Calypso-style Nemesis Inferno area. The phrase ‘Big Easy’ is commonly linked with New Orleans, and it frequently characterises the city’s carefree ambience, lively customs, and the effortless flow of its music, celebrations, and way of life.
Imaginize also recently worked alongside Merlin Magic Making to deliver the full design and creative vision for the new World of Jumanji land at Chessington World of Adventures.
