Owners provide insight into key projects and what’s to come for the US company

Legacy Entertainment, a leading theme park and resort design company, has announced the end of a record year. At the time of writing, the Hollywood-based themed entertainment firm has five large-scale projects in construction around the world, totalling over $1 Billion in capital investment.

Privately-held Legacy Entertainment’s four owners share an update with blooloop on key developments:

Lotte World

Legacy Entertainment’s extended partnership with park operator Lotte World is being continued in the South Korean city of Busan, where finishing touches are being put on an all-new theme park. Scheduled to debut early next year, it will become the ninth collaboration between the two firms to open to guests.

Marcus King, Legacy’s director of projects says “Lotte World Adventure Busan will break the mould of what we’ve come to expect from new Asian theme parks over the last two decades.

“Here, guests will find all the ‘wow factor’ that comes with the Lotte brand, but they’ll also be surprised by the amount of area we’ve dedicated to gardens, water features, and other passive features. It will be a perfect stage for the entire family to unwind and connect together.”

Chimelong Marine Science Park

A spaceship-like structure is currently rising amongst the green hills of China’s Zhuhai city. Taking up nearly 4,000,000 square feet, Chimelong Marine Science Park could soon be a world record-breaking ‘largest indoor theme park’ when it opens, at over twice the size of the previous titleholder.

Legacy’s MD Eric Carnagey says “ It’s the type of project that could only happen in China. This massive facility has been carefully designed as an experience intended to complement the neighbouring Chimelong Ocean Kingdom theme park.

“Visitors will be amazed to discover an experience completely distinct from the first gate next door, as they’re treated not only to attractions that are the firsts-of-their-kind in Asia, but also others that have never been seen anywhere in the world.”

“Huge appetite”

Earlier this year Legacy Entertainment announced “Destination Dining”, a new programme developed in response to increasing numbers of developers requesting the firm’s creative solutions for, especially retail-centric properties. October saw construction begin for the first of these projects and plans to release the preliminary details of a project next month.

Legacy COO Barry Kemper comments, “We have been overwhelmed by the response to our “Destination Dining” initiative. It turns out there is a huge appetite for projects which bring together elements of dining, shopping, and entertainment packaged with our signature creativity.”

“Highly-stimulating projects”

Alongside developments under-construction, Legacy Entertainment’s team has been planning ahead to design its next selection of striking creations.

Taylor Jeffs, Legacy’s chief creative officer, suggests more notable projects are on the horizon: “This past year, we were extremely fortunate to have enjoyed a robust slate of highly-stimulating projects, from the world’s first theme park related to a beloved international automotive brand, from an interactive sculpture garden to an all-new kind of park for one of the world’s largest operators – only to name a few.

“We are confident that Legacy will be wowing and shocking global audiences for many years to come.”

One of the projects Legacy Entertainment has also been selected as a designer of is Enlight Movie World – an ambitious project in Yangzhou, China, as selected by Enlight Media, the country’s largest privately-owned media group.
