Legacy Entertainment, a leading theme park and resort design company, has been chosen by China’s OCT Group to design a new Happy Valley theme park in Zhengzhou.

Legacy Entertainment is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the OCT Group to create an original design for the company’s 9th Happy Valley theme park. The attraction will be located in Zhengzhou, China.

The Happy Valley brand by OCT currently consists of seven theme parks in major Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Chengdu. It began with a flagship park in Shenzen in 1998 and has seen rapid growth ever since. The company’s eighth park, located in Nanjing, will be opening later in 2020.

Next generation of Happy Valley theme parks

“We are extremely honoured to have been selected to help OCT create the next generation of Happy Valley Theme Parks,” says Taylor Jeffs, Legacy’s President and Chief Creative Officer. “Ever since my first visit to a Happy Valley park in 2007, my team and I have dreamed of a collaboration with OCT – so it is thrilling and humbling for us now that that dream has come true.”

OCT Group is the biggest theme park developer and operator in China. It welcomes almost 50,000,000 visitors each year to its various locations. In addition to the Happy Valley theme parks, this also includes Windows on the World, OCT East and Splendid China.

Legacy Entertainment has successfully completed six projects in the Chinese market to date, with a seventh set to open later this year. This project, the Chimelong Marine Science Center, will hold the record for the “World’s Largest Indoor Theme Park” when it opens.

While several Chinese parks are temporarily closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the announcement of this project shows that there is still confidence in the market.

“OCT’s unflinching support of China’s theme park and tourism industry is a testament to what has made them so successful over the last two decades,” says Jeffs. “They have the beautiful audacity to look beyond the temporary setback of the next few months, and, instead, toward the next generation of attractions within China’s domestic theme park industry. We are very proud to be joining them on this journey.”

A highlight of 2019 for the company was the opening of its groundbreaking new ride at Trans Studio Cibubur in Indonesia. Pacific Rim: Shatterdome Strike is branded as “The World’s First Immersive Theater Dark Ride”.
