LEGOLAND® Florida Resort has added new initiatives to help guests with autism spectrum disorders enjoy the theme park more fully.
Following a partnership with the North and Central Florida chapter of Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, the theme park has developed initiatives includeQuiet Rooms, No-Wait Passes and employee training.Blue Hero Pass
A freeBlue Hero Pass has been created to assist visitors on the autism spectrum who have difficulty waiting in line.Quiet Rooms
Specially equipped spaces at the theme park and water park have been converted to Quiet Roomsaway from noise and bustle of the theme park. The rooms are equipped with noise-cancelling headphones, weighted blankets, squishy toys and LEGO® building tables.
Social Stories
Guests are now able to access illustrated walk-throughs of every ride and show so that they will be prepared for elements that may be frightening or overwhelming such as loud noises orsudden periods of darkness or bright lights.Training
Training has been provided to employees to provide them with the skills to interact sensitively with guests on the autism spectrumand their families or caregivers.World Autism Awareness Day
As part of a special promotion to coincide with Autism Awareness Month in April, LEGOLAND Florida Resort will contribute $15 of the proceeds from each ticket sold to the North and Central Florida chapter of Autism Speaks.In addition LEGOLAND Florida Resort has markedWorld Autism Awareness Day on April 2by participating in the Autism Speaks “Light It Up Blue” campaign. Blue spotlights have been shone on several miniature LEGO landmarks in MINILAND USA .
