MI Concept + Design, a multidisciplinary consulting company that creates imaginative and detailed themed spaces, has launched creative hubs in Mumbai, India and Singapore.
With this extension of its services, the company will build a foundation for its commercial growth while serving local clients in expanding and in-demand areas.
Strengthening local support
MI Concept + Design (MIC) was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada. This office leads the company’s design, production, commercial, and business development activities. In 2023, it opened its inaugural satellite hub in Orlando to support its clients in the US.
Walt Kuniec, CEO, says: “Over the past few years, we’ve seen a steady rise in our international projects as we fulfill a long-standing mission to design memorable guest experiences for our clients – integrating innovative design concepts rooted in cultural authenticity.
“With our Canadian headquarters and creative outposts in Singapore, Mumbai and Orlando, we are positioning ourselves closer to our clients and their audiences. This brings greater agility in delivering tailored services with a globally informed perspective.”
In addition to announcing the new hubs, MIC has appointed Tom Mackintosh as senior art director and business strategist – Asia Pacific, based in Singapore; and Suraj Kadam as architecture lead and business strategist – India, based in Mumbai.
“Tom and Suraj are inspiring, talented leaders with worldwide experience that will provide our clients with direct access to our creative talent pool that keeps us at the forefront of the themed leisure and entertainment industry,” says Meeta Ingram, president.
“Positioning them in these breakout markets is a strategic move and we’re thrilled they’re representing the MIC team on the world stage.”
Growth in Asia-Pacific and India markets
Mackintosh and Kadam were both previously based at the company’s head office, where they each spearheaded a range of creative and architectural projects. These included the continuing concept design and visitor journeys for much-awaited projects such as Six Flags Qiddiya City theme park, which is set to launch in Saudi Arabia in late 2025.
In their new roles, they will manage all business activities in the Asia Pacific and India regions and staffing for each of their offices.
This development aligns with findings from Allied Market Research. According to Travel and Tour World, its report valued the leisure travel market in 2023 at $1.2 trillion, with an anticipated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.3% from 2024 to 2033. Asia-Pacific is expected to see a 24.1% CAGR throughout the same period, to lead the expansion in the leisure travel market.
Furthermore, a recent EY report states that India’s media and entertainment sector is expected to reach over $100 billion by 2030, as the Indian film and gaming industries continue to cement the country’s reputation as an international hub for state-of-the-art creativity and technological advancement.
Last year, MIC showcased its multi-disciplinary talent and services tailored to the themed entertainment and leisure sector at IAAPA Expo in Orlando. Delegates could meet members of the team and discover how MIC brings innovative, sophisticated ideas to life, transforming visionary concepts into game-changing realities.
