Retlaw Enterprises, a provider of expert experiential design, development and management services, has announced a new collaboration with former Disney artist Ed Rodriguez of IdeaRworks Studios, in order to develop immersive experiences based on his Kiki Koki illustrated book.
The team is excited about developing an immersive rainforest attraction based on the narrative of Kiki Koki and has started looking into locations and potential partners in Puerto Rico, the birthplace of the successful author’s parents.
Inspired by legend
Kiki Koki is based on the Taino Indian legend. Inspired by the island’s much loved CoquĂ Frog, it depicts Puerto Rico’s vibrant colours and spirit and offers a humorous lesson on what it means to be a member of a community. Until he can demonstrate that he has learnt his lesson and earned the right to turn back into a boy, the story’s main character, a curious Taino boy, is transformed into a little tree frog.
Eddie Newquist and Robin Stapley‘s Retlaw Enterprises is well known for its outstanding experience design capabilities. It has produced immersive and interactive award-winning attractions for museums, shopping centres, theme parks, tourist attractions, and live events.
Retlaw Enterprises’ most recent achievement is the widely acclaimed Game of Thrones Studio Tour outside of Belfast. The firm’s founders have a history of developing attractions based on popular brands including Jurassic Park, Frozen, Titanic, Harry Potter, and Avatar.
Ed Rodriguez and Retlaw Enterprises both have a love for delivering unforgettable experiences that enchant and inspire audiences. Through their joint efforts, their goal is to create immersive attractions that will take guests deep into the story and into the colourful world of Kiki Koki.
Bringing the story to life
“Ed Rodriguez’s Kiki Koki is a wonderful story that captures the essence of the rainforest,” says Newquist, while Stapley adds: “We are thrilled to partner with Ed to bring his vision to life and create immersive experiences that will delight guests of all ages.”
Rodriguez says: “I am excited to work with Retlaw Enterprises to create immersive experiences that will transport visitors to Kiki Koki’s tropical rainforest. I have always dreamed of creating a permanent home for Kiki KokĂ that the children of Puerto Rico can treasure, and with Retlaw Enterprises’ expertise and resources, we can make that dream a reality.”
The partnership between Retlaw Enterprises and Ed Rodriguez is evidence of the impact that good storytelling can have on people’s lives. The immersive Kiki Koki attractions will provide a unique and captivating experience that honours culture and life in the rainforest while inspiring and entertaining viewers.
Thanks to this partnership, Retlaw Enterprises and IdeaRworks are prepared to raise the bar in the event, museum, mall, theme park, and tourism sectors.
Last year, Newquist and Stapley spoke to blooloop about their passion for the industry and the lessons they have learned throughout their extensive career experiences. The pair also shared insights into where the attractions sector is heading.
