Sally Dark Rides, a leading creator of immersive attractions, has collaborated with Daniels Wood Land to create a new dark ride for Cannery Row in Monterey, California. Treasure Hunt: The Ride, which is a first-of-its-kind, standalone attraction that brings a pirate-themed, interactive adventure to Cannery Row, is set to open this month.
Last week, Treasure Hunt: The Ride hung three new signs, ceremoniously welcoming visitors.
Guests will be transported through “newly discovered caverns” beneath Cannery Row and, using Treasure Collector devices, they will seek gold while trying to avoid the ghost of Captain Bouchard, his skeleton crew, and other creatures that await them below.
Final touches ahead of the grand opening
The hand-crafted, colourful Kraken-themed signs measure 10 feet long by 4.5 wide and are now in place on Building 700 Cannery Row. The installation of the ride signage is one of the final steps ahead of Treasure Hunt’s grand opening in July.
Treasure Hunt: The Ride is an interactive theme park dark ride adventure that the whole family can enjoy. For the past two years, crews have been hand-crafting this exclusive experience which features engaging gameplay, realistic animatronics, immersive scenery and special effects.
The only ride on Cannery Row, Treasure Hunt sets out an original tale about pirates, lost treasure and a labyrinth of hidden caverns. The new attraction is currently open daily for select hours as it conducts its “Sea Trials” ahead of the ride’s grand opening in mid-July.
Sally Dark Rides also developed the newly opened Uncharted-themed dark ride coaster at PortAventura World, in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides. ‘Uncharted: The Enigma of Penitence’ is a multi-dimensional indoor roller coaster with 700 metres of track and five launches, as well as audiovisual effects and immersive elements.
