Sanderson Group, a leading Economic Planning, Design and Construction Group with over 24 years experience in delivering world renowned attractions and destinations, has teamed up with Malaysia’s DA Land Sdn Bhd to design and build a RM300 million theme park in Rawang, Selangor.
DA Land Sdn Bhd’s COO Sip Mun Yee confirmed the one million sq ft theme park will be created, designed and operated by Sanderson.
"With their experience, we strongly believe they will give us a special idea and concept. For the outdoor park, we are thinking of an eco-friendly water park but it will be designed by Sanderson, " he said at the MOU signing ceremony on 20th March.
The theme park, which should open 2018/19 will be aimed at both local and international visitors.
It is part of the first phase of DA Land's project, “The TWO”, a RM5 billion 51-acre integrated resort development in Rawang which is divided into three phases.
In addition to the themed rides and attractions of the theme park, the resort will also include an exhibition and conference centre, a tourist hub and hotels, with the whole project expected to take between 10 and 15 years to complete.
Luke Riley (above), Sanderson’s Business Development Director said the firm is considering several possibilities for the theme park and yet to decide if it will collaborate with an entertainment brand along the lines of the recent announcement about the 20th Century Fox theme park at Resorts World Genting.
With the Malaysian Tourism Ministry's ambitious target of 36 million tourists a year by 2020, Riley said the theme park will further enhance the growth of the country as a major tourist and leisure destination.
"Integrated destinations have been a key economic and strategic development catalyst used in Singapore and it is our pleasure to bring our successful 25 years of empirical knowledge and expertise to realise this exciting project, " he said.
Sanderson Group, which is highly experienced in creating integrated tourism destinations, has worked with and completed projects for some of the world’s biggest brands in the entertainment and leisure sector, including Disney, Warner Bros, Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Wet 'n' Wild and its many clients in the region include Sunway Lagoon and Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa.
