SeaWorld San Diego is opening a jellyfish experience, and Catapult Falls is coming to SeaWorld San Antonio

SeaWorld is opening new marine-themed rides and attractions at all of its US parks in spring 2024, including the Penguin Trek coaster at SeaWorld Orlando.

Penguin Trek by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) is a family-friendly coaster with an indoor and outdoor track that finishes in the park’s penguin habitat.

On snowmobile-style ride cars, guests travel through the Antarctic wilderness. The new coaster features two launches and speeds of up to 43 mph across a 3,020-foot track.

“This family launch coaster embodies the spirit of adventure and exploration, offering an immersive journey through the wonders of Antarctica while further connecting our mission and commitment to our animal care, education and research,” said Jon Peterson, president of SeaWorld Orlando.

“We know our guests were ready for a new thrill that the whole family could enjoy, and we’re excited to redefine the family launch coaster experience alongside our longstanding partners at B&M.”

Elsewhere, SeaWorld San Diego will launch ‘Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience’, an immersive aquarium where guests can learn about jellyfish.

The attraction is located within the Ocean’s Explorer area. Guests will encounter moon jellies, Pacific sea nettles, upside-down jellyfish and comb jellies.

New attractions for SeaWorld parks

SeaWorld San Antonio will debut Catapult Falls, first announced in 2022. The new ride is the world’s first launched flume coaster and the only vertical lift in North America. It features the world’s steepest flume drop and the tallest flume drop in Texas.

“2024 looks to be another fun year with exciting new rides in our parks and our first jellyfish exhibit,” said Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.

“We know our fans will delight in the all-new lineup of marine life-inspired experiences that gives everyone even more new ways to really enjoy our parks. And when they do, they can feel good knowing that a portion of proceeds goes toward our rescue and conservation work.”
