SeaWorld Orlando has unveiled and named its Arctic-themed flying theatre, Expedition Odyssey, ahead of the opening this spring.
Expedition Odyssey is SeaWorld Orlando’s most ambitious attraction to date, the park said in a press release.
Opening this spring, Expedition Odyssey combines cutting-edge ride technology, state-of-the-art visuals, real-world footage, and encounters with Arctic wildlife.
The ride system pushes the boundaries of theme park technology, SeaWorld said. Unlike traditional motion-based rides, the ride vehicle for Expedition Odyssey offers an unparalleled range of motion.
Guests will feel like they are on a thrilling expedition across the Arctic, dodging towering icebergs, racing alongside pods of beluga whales, and diving into the hidden depths of the sea.
The real, live-shot video footage was captured exclusively for the new attraction through custom-designed camera rigs and groundbreaking underwater cinematography.
Real footage of Arctic locations
An award-winning production team travelled to the Arctic’s most remote locations to film polar bears, orcas, humpback whales and more wildlife.
“This isn’t CGI or animation – every glacier, every wave, every incredible animal interaction is real,” SeaWorld‘s press release says.
“Guests will experience never-before-seen perspectives of Arctic wildlife, from the majesty of a humpback whale breaching at arm’s length to the raw intensity of a polar bear navigating the ice floes.”
After the ride, guests are transitioned into a real-world encounter with Arctic animals, including beluga whales and walruses.

“With Opening this spring, Expedition Odyssey, we are delivering an experience that is truly unmatched – one that combines breathtaking adventure with powerful, real-world encounters,” said Jon Peterson, park president of SeaWorld Orlando.
“This attraction embodies SeaWorld’s ongoing commitment to innovation, conservation, and creating awe-inspiring moments that stay with our guests long after they leave.”
SeaWorld Orlando recently opened its new Penguin Trek family launch coaster. Located in the new Antarctica realm, Penguin Trek boasts an indoor and outdoor track, and snowmobile-style ride cars.
