SeaWorld Orlando appears to be teasing another new roller coaster, not long after opening Ice Breaker, a multi-launch coaster featuring Florida’s steepest beyond-vertical drop.
Work appears to be underway on the theme park’s latest coaster, which is reported to be a Bolliger & Mabillard ‘Surf Coaster’.
SeaWorld shared an image on Twitter of two coaster tracks behind some palm trees. The caption, which doesn’t acknowledge the tracks, reads: “Some beautiful palm trees right there…”
In early 2020, SeaWorld filed permits with Orange County for an attraction named ‘Project Penguin’ (via Spectrum News 13). Earlier this year, a notice of commencement for ‘Project Penguin – Demolition’ was filed with Orange County.

Ice Breaker is one of 11 new rides and attractions opening at 10 SeaWorld theme parks this year. Emperor, California’s tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster, launched at SeaWorld San Diego in March.
The Iron Gwazi and Pantheon coasters at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Busch Gardens Williamsburg also opened in March, as did the Sesame Place San Diego theme park.
“These new rides and attractions are part of that commitment and as we look ahead to 2022, we have what we believe is our most significant and exciting lineup of new rides, attractions, events and upgrades in our history,” said Marc Swanson, SeaWorld’s CEO.
Elsewhere, Epcot’s first-ever coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, is opening in May. New coasters at Six Flags for 2022 include Aquaman Power Wave, Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger and Wonder Woman Flight of Courage.
SeaWorld has also announced plans to expand its critical care facility for manatees in Orlando, adding 200,000 gallons of water.
