Shanghai Disney Resort has been closed due to Covid-19 since 21 March.

Shanghai Disneyland is preparing to reopen to the public at limited capacity on 30 June. Tickets for Shanghai Disneyland are available to buy from 29 June.

The reopening of the theme park comes after the reopening of Disneytown, the Wishing Star Park, Blue Sky Boulevard and the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.

Shanghai Disney “will continue its enhanced health and safety measures, in accordance with the latest government regulations and guidance”, says a news release.

“I would like to thank all of our guests and fans for your support and passion for Disney,” said Joe Schott, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort.

“Throughout this period, you kept the magic of Disney alive with your optimism and community spirit, and we are excited to welcome you back to a place full of happiness and wonder.”

Schott also thanked the park’s cast members, who “worked tirelessly throughout our closure to ensure a safe and magical return for our guests”.

Some of Shanghai Disneyland’s attractions will remain closed. These include Explorer Canoes, Selfie Spot with Mickey at the Gardens of Imagination and Marvel Universe.

All guests are required to show proof of a negative coronavirus test within the last 72 hours and present a green Shanghai Health QR Code. Temperature checks, face masks and social distancing are also required.

“All guests will be required to wear masks during their entire visit to the resort in both indoor and outdoor settings, except when dining,” according to the release.

“All guests will be required to strictly follow social distancing requirements, and a safe distance should be kept while queuing, watching outdoor performances or dining.”

Shanghai Disney Resort has been closed since 21 March. In October 2021, more than 30,000 visitors were locked inside the park and tested for Covid-19 by Chinese government officials.

Shanghai Disney’s reopening follows that of Universal Beijing Resort on June 25. The resort was closed for nearly two months due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the Chinese capital.
