Super 78, the award-winning attractions design studio, has debuted Flying Over Indonesia at Trans Studio Theme Park in Bali.
Super 78 is pleased to announce the launch of Flying Over Indonesia, a new flying theatre attraction set to wow visitors at Trans Studio Theme Park in Bali, Indonesia. This brand new theme park, marketed as the first ‘Instagrammable’ theme park, is now open to the public after a grand opening ceremony last weekend.
Flying Over Indonesia is a cutting-edge flying theatre experience, taking guests on an aerial tour of the stunning country, showcasing its many wonders such as Borneo, Lake Toba, the Bali Coast, Jakarta and the Kuin River. It even transports guests to the famous Komodo island, with one of the first underwater sequences for a flying attraction.
Active participants in an immersive adventure
That is not the only first for this flying theatre attraction, as several shots also feature thousands of extras from each region, adding an extra level of authenticity and cultural relevance.
The entire experience lasts for 20 minutes and includes a special Indonesian-themed pre-show. Dynamic Attractions provided the latest high-tech flying theatre ride system for the attraction.
“We wanted to create more than just a travelogue of the country,” says Brent Young, Super 78’s President and Creative Director. “So we developed a story that makes guests active participants in an enchanted hang-gliding adventure.”
“After lifting off in a serene classical Indonesian garden, they are transported to some of the most stunning areas of this incredible country. From the rainforests to volcanic mountains to astounding temples to a coral reef at Raja Ampat, there is something for everyone in this experience.”
Mushroom VR
High-resolution footage was captured from helicopters and drones, using 8k digital cameras. Mushroom VR, Super 78’s proprietary virtual reality media review tool, enabled the team to watch new footage, projected onto a virtual model of the theatre dome, while sitting in a virtual model of the ride vehicle, minutes after landing the helicopter and make adjustments in the field.
“This was by far the most rugged terrain we’ve ever had to shoot, but it was really the only way to authentically represent just how diverse and beautiful Indonesia truly is,” says Paul Washburn, Super 78 Producer of the film.
“Trans Studio and their chairman were so welcoming and were great partners making sure we got the locations safely for all the shots we needed. We are so proud of this film.”
The immersive experience is enhanced by cutting–edge Christie digital laser projectors, binaural sound for each guest and a complex surround sound system, as well as an original musical score by Yessian Music. Kraftwerk Living Technologies was the provider of the AV system for this project.
“Super 78 has been creating Flying Theater attractions since 2008 and Flying Over Indonesia represents the pinnacle of that experience,” says Dina Benadon, Super 78’s CEO and Executive Producer. “Brent had a vision for this film from the very beginning.
“The final results really reflect a beautiful country that is full of picture-perfect landscapes and provides an unforgettable impression of the country. It’s the perfect combination of story, beauty and music all working in harmony.”
Super 78 also recently debuted its new show at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas, which uses Microsoft Surface Studio to bring a host of new characters to life.
