UCARGO, the international freight forwarder, has revealed that it has moved 122 pieces of freight for an extensive Wonderland event which opened in Kuwait in October.
The project’s 122 components were categorised into trailers, containers, and break-bulk, and required a vessel to be chartered from Southampton to Kuwait. In addition, UCARGO needed to coordinate the arrival of event equipment from across the globe.
While the vessel charter constituted the biggest portion of the project, it was equally important to organise the freight movement from Europe, Chile, Cyprus, the US, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines.
The project was initiated in March 2023, and with a deadline of the last week of September, required a hands-on approach.
Complex undertaking
As one of the largest projects that the firm has undertaken, this assignment was a test of UCARGO’s project-forwarding expertise and experience.
Key components of the project included the charter vessel from Southampton, which carried 31 containers and 43 trailers; 10 Skids and 15 containers from Cyprus; 5 x 40ft containers, 1 x 20ft container, and 1 breakbulk from Chile; a shipment from the Netherlands consisting of 11 trailers and 24 containers for an enormous Vekoma ride; 3 x 40ft/OT containers from the US; 12 trailers from Bremerhaven; 2x40ft/HQ from Spain; 2 trailers from Vietnam; and loads from the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia.
This mammoth task was achieved through an outstanding team effort by everyone involved, including the vessel owners and crew, the captain, stevedores, the marine cargo surveyor, the staff in Kuwait, and the entire UCARGO team.
Shalbin George, Project Manager, Al Rashed International Shipping Co, says: “The project was a complex undertaking with tight deadlines and challenging logistics. However, [the UCARGO] team’s professionalism and responsiveness made all the difference. [Their] ability to adapt to unexpected situations and provide solutions promptly was impressive and greatly contributed to the project’s success.
“From the outset, we were aware that the Winter Wonderland Project 2023 was going to be a complex and demanding endeavour, with stringent timelines and logistical hurdles. However, [UCARGO’s] unwavering commitment to excellence and exceptional problem-solving skills truly set [the firm] apart as a partner of choice.
[Their] support went beyond logistics; it was a true partnership based on trust and commitment.”
Earlier this year, UCARGO announced its sponsorship of a show garden for Fenton Gardens at BBC Gardeners World 2023, which took place from 15 – 18 June 2023 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK.
