Horror fans will find themselves in a living slaughterhouse and the Catacombs of Paris

Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood have unveiled three new haunted houses for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights events, inspired by The Exorcist: Believer, Chucky and Universal’s classic monsters.

Rather than the original 1973 film, The Exorcist: Believer haunted house is based on Universal Pictures’ new Blumhouse and Morgan Creek Entertainment film.

Universal’s first Chucky haunted house, Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count, is inspired by USA and Syfy’s hit series, while Universal Monsters: Unmasked is a classic monsters-themed attraction.

The Exorcist: Believer will put guests in a street market in Haiti, where a strange folk doll with three eyes leads to the opening of a demonic portal. According to Universal, this results in the “awakening of sinister spirits and the subsequent disappearance of two 12-year-old girls in the US”.

The girls are found three days later with no memory of what happened and are exhibiting unsettling behaviour. Per a press release, only an exorcism can save them.

As for Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count, the killer doll will be on a mission “to turn his haunted house into a living slaughterhouse by killing every person who enters”.

Universal Monsters: Unmasked takes visitors into the Catacombs of Paris where “every corner and crevice overflows with millions of skeletal remains and even more sinister secrets”. Guests will meet the Phantom of the Opera, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Dr. Jekyll and his deranged alternate personality Mr. Hyde, and Dr. Jack Griffin (aka the Invisible Man).

For Universal Studios Hollywood‘s version of this haunted house, guitarist and Grammy-winner Slash will compose an original score.

Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights includes 10 immersive haunted houses, five scare zones, live entertainment, and frightening F&B.

The new Chucky, Exorcist and Universal monsters houses join the previously announced Stranger Things and The Last of Us experiences (both also running in California), as well as the below:

  • Dr. Oddfellow: Twisted Origins
  • Dueling Dragons: Choose Thy Fate
  • Yeti: Campground Kills
  • The Darkest Deal
  • Bloodmoon: Dark Offerings

Universal Orlando’s scare zones for this year are as follows:

  • Dr. Oddfellow’s Collection of Horror
  • Dark Zodiac
  • Jungle of Doom: Expedition Horror
  • Vamp ’69: Summer of Blood
  • Shipyard 32: Horrors Unhinged

Halloween Horror Nights begins on 1 September at Universal Orlando and on 7 September at Universal Studios Hollywood.
