Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood unveil new haunted houses

Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood has unveiled two more haunted houses for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights.

One is inspired by Five Nights at Freddy’s, and the other by WWE’s The Wyatt Sicks.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s haunted house is themed to the 2023 film, Blumhouse’s highest-grossing movie to date.

Guests will follow in the footsteps of Mike, who agrees to accept a role as a night security guard in an abandoned entertainment centre called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria.

Here, guests will “encounter the supernatural and become lured into the black heart of an unspeakable nightmare”, Universal said in a press release.

Eerie characters from the film, including Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and Mr. Cupcake, will stalk guests through iconic scenes.

These characters for the haunted house were created in collaboration with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, which produced the animatronics and costumes for the film.

As for WWE Presents: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks, in this haunted house guests will go head-to-head with Uncle Howdy in an experience “that not only features The Wyatt Sicks, but honors the legacy of Bray Wyatt”, Universal said.

“The chilling crew of five has quickly emerged as one of the most disturbing and disruptive groups in WWE history with its ominous presence and portrayal of dark and twisted characters – all of which will come to life at Halloween Horror Nights this fall,” it added.

Within the haunted house, each member of the professional wrestling stable will have their own “horrific domains” based on their characters; Uncle Howdy, Ramblin’ Rabbit, Mercy the Buzzard, Abby the Witch, and Huskus the Pig.

Other IP haunted houses already revealed for this year’s event in Florida and California are inspired by Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees, Amazon Prime Video’s drama series Fallout, and the Terrifier film franchise.

Universal Studios Hollywood will also be home to a haunted house by Grammy Award-winning guitarist and songwriter Slash.

Halloween Horror Nights starts at Universal Orlando on 29 August, and at Universal Studios Hollywood on 4 September.
