Wild Creations, a creative production company specialising in designing and fabricating imaginative installations for the attractions industry, has announced the appointment of Chris Smith as US development lead.
Smith, formerly senior scenic manager at Universal Creative, will lead Wild Creations’ growth and client engagement across the US.
Driving US expansion
Smith brings a wealth of knowledge and industry connections from his nearly three decades of experience in themed entertainment, project design, and strategic management.
These attributes will enable Wild Creations to enhance its reputation for designing and manufacturing innovative installations that successfully combine artistic innovation with practical operations.
Known for his expertise in scenic artistry, Smith has contributed to numerous major, high-profile projects. These range from his first job with Universal at Islands of Adventure to subsequent positions that included the scenic development of Mario Kart at Universal Studios Hollywood and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Epic Universe.
Furthermore, his diverse portfolio includes unique projects beyond the theme park space, such as the design integration for an architecturally accurate Tuscan-style villa in Newport Beach, and leading the design, manufacture, and installation of a custom LED façade on a new 73-story skyscraper in Los Angeles.
Matt Wild, director at Wild Creations, says: “While we’ve already established a strong presence in the US and are working on the delivery of significant projects, Chris’s background, industry connections and firsthand experience working with us as a client will accelerate our growth and extend our capacity to respond to new client briefs and opportunities. His role will also include overseeing our team and premises expansion in the US, so watch this space!”
Smith became acquainted with Wild Creations while working on Mario Kart in 2020, and his knowledge of the company’s philosophy and ideals fueled his excitement for the position.
“I’ve witnessed firsthand the quality and reliability Wild Creations brings to every project,” says Smith. “The company has a well-earned reputation for rapid turnaround and commitment to excellence, and I’m thrilled to now lead their next phase of growth in the US.”
Wild and Smith are available for meetings at IAAPA Expo in Orlando. The event gathers industry professionals to showcase new products and innovative services, with insightful education sessions and impactful networking opportunities. It is taking place from 18 to 22 November, with the show floor open from 19 November.
