From 15 April, all visitors ages 15 or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone.

Cedar Fair’s Worlds of Fun theme park in Missouri is implementing a chaperone policy after a fight involving between 100 and 150 teenagers broke out over the weekend.

From Saturday, 15 April, all guests ages 15 or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old “to be admitted to, or remain in, the park” after 4pm.

Per a statement from Worlds of Fun, the chaperone must present a valid photo identification with a date of birth.

“In addition, the chaperone must accompany their party during entry, remain inside the park during their visit, and be available by phone throughout their stay,” said Worlds of Fun.

“For decades, Worlds of Fun has been a place where families and friends come together to enjoy our one-of-a-kind park,” the statement said.

“Millions of guests have counted on us for their daily dose of wholesome family fun, and we’re committed to keeping that promise going forward.”

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that an estimated 100 to 150 teenagers were involved in the fight at the park in Kansas City on 8 April.

One teenage girl refused to leave the venue and punched a deputy in the face, leaving the official with “superficial injuries”, according to the press release. She was arrested and turned over to her parents.

Chaperones at Knott’s Berry Farm

Last year, Knott’s Berry Farm in California introduced a chaperone policy after several fights involving teens broke out and caused the park to close early.

The policy, which required adults to chaperone visitors who were 17 years old or younger, was extended during the Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween event.

After the incident, Knott’s said: “This behavior did not align with our park’s values, and was not the experience we want any guest to have while visiting Knott’s Berry Farm.”
