Chaperone policy “will now be extended to all event nights of Knott’s Scary Farm“.

Knott’s Berry Farm in California is extending its chaperone policy during the Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween event after fights involving teenagers broke out at the park earlier this year.

The policy was introduced following several altercations that caused Knott’s Berry Farm to close early in July. The park requires adults to chaperone visitors who are 17 years old or younger on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

In its code of conduct, Knott’s says the chaperone policy “will now be extended to all event nights of Knott’s Scary Farm”.

“Under the chaperone policy, all general park guests ages 17 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old to be admitted to the park,” the website says.

“The chaperone must present a valid photo ID with date of birth. One chaperone may accompany no more than four guests ages 17 or younger per day.”

After the incident in July, Knott’s tweeted: “On Saturday evening, the decision was made to close the park three hours early due to unruly behavior and altercations involving a number of teenagers.

“This behavior did not align with our park’s values, and was not the experience we want any guest to have while visiting Knott’s Berry Farm.”

Minors accompanied for Knott’s Scary Farm

Knott’s Scary Farm kicks off on 22 September and runs through 31 October. The theme park will be transformed for spooky season, offering haunted mazes and attractions, sinister shows, and more than 1,000 creepy creatures.

Meanwhile, Cedar Fair has unveiled plans for the 2023 season at several of its properties in the US and Canada, including Knott’s Berry Farm.

The attraction’s Fiesta Village will be completely revitalised, and will include a new coaster called MonteZOOMa: The Forbidden Fortress. This is an updated version of Montezooma’s Revenge. The Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel is also being transformed.
