Tomislav Krizmanić

Tomislav Krizmanić, community engagement and education lead at Zagreb Zoo in Croatia, has more than 20 years’ experience in zoo and aquarium education and community outreach.

In his role at Zagreb Zoo, Krizmanić focuses on engaging zoos, aquariums and the public in conservation efforts, ensuring that the zoo’s educational programmes and resources are accessible and impactful.

Krizmanić is involved in the zoo’s new pollinators project, which aims to halt the decline in wild pollinator populations. "The Zagreb Zoo will run an educational and scientific program for citizens with the aim of raising public awareness about pollinators and the need for their protection,” he said.

“We will develop a database of pollinator protection initiatives that will be the basis for a wide range of activities: from environmental education and citizen science programs for schools and teachers, [to] international events, guerrilla gardening and digital tools for participating in pollinator protection.”
