International Conference On Islamic Science and the Contemporary World brought together Muslim scholars from around the world

Dubai based MTE Studios, a consultancy firm specializing in themed architecture and interactive exhibitions, well known for their turnkey themed projects and world-class installations in science centres and museum galleries worldwide had a strong presence at “2nd ISTAC International Conference On Islamic Science and the Contemporary World” recently held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Syed Arabi Idid, the rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), opened the conference with the theme “Islamic Science in Tertiary Education” which gathered Muslim scholars from around the world.

The two day symposium organized by ISTAC was a part of an ongoing series of international conferences on contributions from notable Muslim scholars from the past as well as the prevailing academics and thinkers in general with relevance to present-day Islamic civilization. The first topic was “Islamic Science and the Contemporary World with the theme, Islamic Science in Contemporary Education. Speakers from local institutions and from around the world’s leading philosophers of science, including government agencies, ministries and embassies, as well as international institutions and universities presented papers during the forum.

“The conference provided an exceptional platform to exchange meaningful ideas and exposed scholars, members and students to significant intellectual discourse. MTE Studios’ presence reiterated our commitment to enhance our research and develop a better understanding of definitive philosophies of Islamic Science and the role it has played towards increasing society’s understanding and participation in science and technology. The exposure this event has given will help us enhance the content of our ‘Sultans of Science’, global travelling exhibition, ” said Ludo Verheyen, CEO, MTE Studios.

“We received an overwhelming response at the conference as Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Syed Arabi Idid, the rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) visited our stand and was impressed with our  online platform which we have developed to educate visitors about the great Muslim minds and their contributions to modern civilisation, ” added Verheyen.

The interactive exhibition celebrates the contribution of Arab and Muslim scholars to science and technology during the first Golden Age of the Muslim World and the influence of their discoveries and inventions on contemporary society. The exhibition covers Arab and Muslim scientific endeavours in architecture, arts, astronomy, engineering, exploration, flight, mathematics, medicine and optics.
