Polin Waterslides & Pool Systems, one of the world’s leading companies in the design, manufacture and installation of waterparks, waterslides and water-play attractions, has designed and installed a new indoor waterpark in Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia.

The Megacenter Gorizont Aquapark is set to open in May 2013 and forms part of the Horizon Megacenter mall, which currently offers entertainment options including a multiplex cinema, a family entertainment complex and a bowling alley. The new waterpark will cover an area of more than 27, 000 square meters (290, 625 square feet), of which over 6, 000 square meters (64, 583 square feet) is allocated for aquatic attractions. The indoor complex has a capacity of 1, 800 visitors and represents an investment of 1.393 billion rubles (US$45 million) for owner NGO Gorizont LLC.
Having a new office in Krasnador, Russia, has made it easy for Polin to be on-site and oversee the waterpark’s construction. Polin also designed and supplied the Gorki Indoor Waterpark, just outside Ryazan, 120 miles south of Moscow.
Polin’s design for the Megacenter Gorizont Aquapark features spa pools, a three-level spa complex and a swimming pool for training, water aerobics and games. There will also be attractions for younger guests, including themed attractions such as octopus and frog slides; a giraffe shower; mushroom and dolphin fountains and an Aquatower Type 800. (The Aquatower Type 800 comes in a variety of colours and themes to match a customer’s branding.)
Some of Polin’s most popular waterslides have also been installed including the Windigo, Navigatour and Looping Rocket. Polin’s exclusive Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) technology gives waterslides both a shiny interior and exterior that looks stunning when combined with Polin’s Natural Light and Special Pattern Effects.
The thrilling waterslides featured at The Megacenter Gorizont Aquapark include:
- Aquatube (a tunnel-freefall combination) with a length of 92.76 meters (304.44 feet)
- Aquatube, with length of 118.33 meters (388.22 feet)
- Windigo high-speed mat-racer slide
- Multislide with a length of 44.49 meters (145.96 feet)
- Kamikaze with a length of 50.93 meters (167.09 feet)
- Freefall with a length of 41.07 meters (134.74 feet)
- Two Twisters, one with a length of 74.98 meters (244.99 feet) and one at 70.83 meters (232.38 feet)
- Two Navigatours, one with a length of 29.86 meters (97.96 feet) and one at 83.89 meters (275.22 feet)
- A Space Boat with a length of 63.47 meters (208.23 feet).
- A Tunnel Body Slide with a length of 110.75 meters (363.35 feet)
- A Black Hole with a length of 148.56 meters (487.4 feet)
- A Magic Hole with a length of 164.75 meters (540.51 feet)
- A Looping Rocket with a length of 65.22 meters (213.97 feet)
