Theme Parks: Picsolve Celebrates Record Year at Theme Parks and Attractions

News

Picsolve International Limited, the world’s leading specialist supplier of photography services to theme parks and attractions, has been setting new records around the world.

Double digit sales growth in 2009

Despite challenging economic conditions, Picsolve’s sales are up by significantly more than 10%. With Picsolve predominantly working on a revenue-share basis, this has been great news for Picsolve’s customers.

Picsolve’s sales growth has been driven by a combination of investment in leading-edge photography technology, high levels of engineering support, and new product innovations – such as photos being downloaded to USB sticks, and ride video being installed on selected rides.

High levels of growth at parks where Picsolve provides staffing services

In recent years, Picsolve has expanded its service offering to include providing the staff at major parks. At peak season Picsolve now employs more than 500 staff across 10 of the leading theme parks and attractions in Europe, and another 100 staff at parks in the US and Asia Pacific.

During 2009 Picsolve developed a number of techniques for optimising its staffing levels to make sure that the very highest levels of customer service could be achieved. The net result was a significant uplift in Spend per Visitor in 2009 across the Parks where Picsolve provides the staffing, bucking the industry trend.

Picsolve is now actively engaging with Parks where it does not provide the staffing, to pass on its expertise on how to staff photography operations. In this way all of Picsolve’s customers can benefit from this knowledge, built up at the leading theme parks all over Europe and now in the US.

New customers

Picsolve signed up a number of new customers in 2009, including Hunderfossen, a regional park in Norway. Picsolve has also installed systems at a number of new Sealife Centres that have been opened across Europe, including Sealife Berlin and Sealife Scheveningen.

As befits a company who has always been at the forefront of new technology and market applications, Picsolve has now entered the sports stadia market. Picsolve is pleased to announce that it has recently signed a contract to provide photography at the new Wembley football museum.

Picsolve is rapidly expanding its customer base in the US, with Wanadoo, a centre for children’s activities in Sunrise, Florida, New Jersey, being signed up in 2009. Other US wins have included Silver Springs, Milwaukee Zoo, Pacific Park in Santa Monica, and Madame Tussauds Hollywood.

One of the advantages of having a business which covers both the European and US markets is that Picsolve can bring new technologies from one market to the other, and a number of new product launches are planned for 2010.

Entering the China Theme Park market

Picsolve is pleased to report that it has recently secured a contract with OCT East, a major resort and theme park located at DaMeiSha in Shenzhen China. The resort spreads over 50m square metres and consists of 3 theme parks; The Knight Valley, Tea Stream Valley and the Wind Valley. Picsolve’s ride photography system will be installed on The Waterfall, one of OCT East’s main rides, for the beginning of the 2010 season.

Plans for 2010

Picsolve is positioned for major growth in 2010.

The first priority is to make sure Picsolve’s customers continue to receive the highest level of account management and support. Picsolve has recently appointed a new head of Business Development for EMEA, Ben Thomas, and a new Vice President of US operations, Deborah Eicher.
The new products successfully piloted and introduced in 2009 are now being prepared for full scale roll-out in 2010.

Picsolve will also be setting up a Customer “User Group”, where parks can exchange ideas and discuss Best Practices in photography operations.

Gary Cormack, CEO of Picsolve International Ltd, commented
“2009 has truly been a landmark year for Picsolve. Our focus on customer service, the guest experience, and our investment in our engineering and staffing operations – just at the time when many people were cutting back – has paid handsome dividends for our customers.

We look forward to 2010 with great confidence. We are keen to spread our skills and experience across all parts of our customer base – from regional parks, through major destination parks, and out to new markets such as sports stadia and city-centre attractions. We also look forward to welcoming more parks and attractions as Picsolve customers. The more parks we work with, the more we can invest in R&D and customer support, and the more revenues we can generate for all of our customers”
